Tools You'll Need
Now that you’ve acquired the correct amount of wall covering material for your design project, it’s time to gather the tools you’ll need to get started.
If you’re ready to tackle the job yourself, your supply list should include cleaning materials such as:
- A few clean cloths
- Sponge
- Bucket of warm water
- Non-abrasive cleaner
- Level
- Pencil
- Wallpaper brush
Since you’ve decided to use our amazing peel and Stick wallpaper, the job just got easier than traditional wallpaper installation. You won’t need wallpaper paste to adhere the paper to the wall because all you have to do is peel away the wallpaper backing as you work. You will also need a level and pencil to mark where the wallpaper will be placed, and a wallpaper brush to smooth out any air bubbles or wrinkles.
Prepping Your Walls
First, thoroughly clean the wall surface to ensure the best installation. You’ll want to make sure the wall is dry and free of dust, dirt and debris. If the wall has been recently painted, make sure the paint has been allowed to dry and cure completely.
In order to prep the walls, start by wiping them down with a damp, clean cloth to remove any dust, cobwebs, or dirt. Fill a bucket with 30% water and 70% Isopropyl alcohol. Dip a sponge into the mixture and gently scrub the walls to remove any stubborn marks or stains. Rinse the sponge frequently and use a clean, dry cloth to dry the walls. Please repeat this step twice. If you’re working with an already highly textured wall surface, you might have to use a primer to create a smooth surface.
Now that your walls are prepped and ready for wallpaper installation, you can start on the hanging process. Keep in mind what type of pattern you’re using. Peel and Stick Murals will need specific attention to aligning the panels to create the full picture with seamless design. Half Drop vs Straight Repeat
A half drop repeat is a type of wallpaper pattern in which the pattern is dropped halfway down the length of the wallpaper, creating a staggered effect, while a straight repeat is a pattern that repeats in a straight line. Half Drop repeats are usually used when hanging wallpaper in smaller spaces, as the pattern can be used to create an illusion of a larger space. It also adds visual interest to an area and can be used to define a space. Straight repeats are most often used in larger rooms, as the pattern can be repeated in a predictable manner. This can be helpful when hanging wallpaper in large areas, as it can make it easier to create a seamless look. Straight repeats also provide a more uniform look, as the pattern will appear to be the same across the wall.
Removable Wallpaper Installation Steps
Ready, set, go!!! Mark the desired location on the wall with a pencil. and use a level to make sure the pencil marks are even. Begin by measuring and cutting the first wallpaper panel. Make sure to leave a few inches of extra material at the top and bottom. Start at the top corner of the wall. Remove the paper backing from the wallpaper and as you move from top to button, press it against the wall. Make sure to smooth out any air bubbles with a wallpaper brush. Hang the remaining removable wallpaper panels, making sure to line up any patterns. Trim any excess wallpaper from the edges of the wall and baseboard.
Lastly, stand back and enjoy the beauty and unique design of your new removable wallpaper; with style you can expect to look great for years to come!
Important Note: Wallshoppe includes a 1/4" bleed, or overprint, in the width and a 1" bleed in the length of every panel. The overprint can stay on the panel (Option A) or it can be cut off before installation (Option B). Please note the following for the method you decide to use:
Option A- Overlap: Simply overlap the adjoining panel 1/4" so that the pattern on the panel repeats correctly.
Option B- Edge to Edge: Professional installer recommended. Measure 1/4" from the right edge of the panel. Using a sharp edge, remove the 1/4" strip running the length of the panel. Measure 1" from the bottom edge of the panel. Using a sharp edge, remove the 1" strip running the width of the panel.
